What a fascinating bit of history! Thanks for sharing.

Interesting that G1000 is calling for only 50 members to be selected by lot. That seems quite small, and statistically unrepresentative. I would have thought at least 100 would be needed. The current upper house in Belgium has 150 members, so why not replicate that?
